PLD Literacy
PLD Literacy provides an Australian, evidence-based approach to Structured Synthetic Phonics (SSP) for primary school educators and is currently endorsed by the WA Department of Education.
The program promotes that literacy and learning outcomes are maximised for children when their Literacy (Spelling/Decoding), Oral Language and Movement & Motor skills are targeted.
PLD Literacy is used in Kindergarten to Year 6 at Al-Hidayah Islamic School.

SharpReading
We believe that being able to read fluently and with understanding is the foundation for successful student learning.
The SharpReading program and routine is a collection of well researched, tried and tested resources aimed at delivering quality classroom reading programs for beginning to advanced readers.
Our focus is on teaching levelled reading groups, commonly referred to as guided reading, from Pre-Primary to Year 6, which explicitly teaches students to read fluently and provides the skills for them to understand the text at their appropriate level.
Each class has at least three SharpReading sessions each week where they actively learn in small groups of up to six students. One of our educators guides the children in learning to read fluently and develop their comprehension skills.
All our educators receive on-going support and feedback in their delivery of the SharpReading routine through regular peer observations from our in-house Sharp Reading ‘coaches’.
SharpReading is used in Pre Primary to Year 6 at Al-Hidayah Islamic School.

Talk 4 Writing
The Talk for Writing approach enables children to read and write independently for a variety of audiences and purposes within different subjects.
A key feature is that children internalise the language structures needed to write through ‘talking the text’, as well as close reading.
The approach moves from dependence towards independence, with the teacher using shared and guided teaching to develop the ability in children to write creatively and powerfully.
Talk 4 Writing is used in Kindergarten to Year 1 at Al-Hidayah Islamic School.

Seven Steps For Writing Success
Seven Steps to Writing Success is a writing program that enables teachers to inspire their students to rapidly improve their writing skills, and most importantly, learn to love writing.
Seven Steps is an evidence-based program that breaks down writing into seven key techniques that professional authors use.
Students focus on one Step at a time, which allows them to understand, practice and master each individual skill before they write a whole text. Taking small, manageable steps builds students’ confidence and makes writing fun and achievable for all ability levels.
The concepts of the Seven Steps applies to all forms of writing – Narrative, Persuasive and Informative – and our teachers give engaging and practical examples of how to apply the key techniques to each text type.
Seven Steps to Writing Success is used in Year 2 to Year 6 at Al-Hidayah Islamic School.
