Part-Time Librarian
Commencing 7th August 2024
We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Part-Time Librarian to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing our small school library, promoting a love of reading, and supporting the academic and recreational needs of our students. The Librarian will play a key role in fostering a culture of learning and exploration through the provision of diverse and engaging reading materials, while adhering to our vision statement that the Islamic nature of the school takes precedence over all other considerations.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Under the direction of the Principal, the Librarian must:
- Manage and maintain the library collection, including cataloguing and organising books and resources.
- Develop and implement programs to encourage reading and literacy among students.
- Assist students and staff in locating and using library resources effectively.
- Plan and conduct library activities, such as book readings, storytelling sessions, and author visits.
- Maintain an inviting and organised library environment.
- Collaborate with teachers to support classroom learning and curriculum needs.
- Stay updated with new releases and relevant educational materials.
- Oversee the borrowing and return of library resources.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Previous experience working in a school library or similar educational setting is preferred.
- Strong organisational and administrative skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- A passion for literature and promoting reading among young learners.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Familiarity with library management systems and digital resources.
- An understanding of Islamic values and principles.
- Be currently living in Perth, Western Australia, and be eligible to work in Australia
- Have a valid Working With Children Check (WWCC)
