Curriculum

At Al-Hidayah Islamic School, our curriculum combines consistent, quality teaching in both the Government Curriculum and Islamic Studies, using evidence-based best practices. We integrate our Islamic values and teachings into all aspects of the school day and in many of our Government Curriculum programs to ensure that our students receive a well-rounded education grounded in Islamic principles.

Al-Hidayah Islamic School offers a strong and viable alternative to both government schools and other non-Islamic schools.

Our Approach to Teaching & Learning

At Al-Hidayah Islamic School, we implement a play-based and inquiry-based holistic approach to teaching and learning using the Walker Learning framework, which embraces the concept of the 'whole child'.

The Walker Learning approach is reinforced by intentional teaching, using student interests (as a catalyst for engagement, motivation and skill instruction) and respect for each child’s context.

These are used as a springboard to facilitate further understanding and skill development in all areas of learning including literacy, numeracy, language, cognition, social, psychological and emotional development.

Highly Motivated, Fully Engaged Students

Using this approach, we aim to fill classes with highly motivated students who are fully engaged in their learning. It strongly supports teachers to personalise each student’s learning.

Islamic Studies

Our Islamic Studies programs are conducted according to a structured curriculum that have been developed since the school’s inception using reliable, authentic and comprehensive sources, using English as the medium for instruction to ensure that the school is suitable for any child in the Muslim community.

The normal school day has been extended to accommodate our comprehensive Islamic Studies program - 20% of our school day is devoted to Islamic Studies.

Al-Hidayah Islamic School’s commitment to Islamic studies in terms of time and resources is, on average, twice that of other Muslim schools.

At Al-Hidayah Islamic School, we firmly believe that we have a responsibility to educate our children in a balanced way, in both Government Curriculum and Islamic studies, to ensure that they will grow up to be good Muslims who will thereby automatically become good citizens and part of the solution, not part of the problem.

Prophet Muhammad (SAW) stated that "Every one of you is a shepherd and is responsible for his flock."

The Islamic Studies subjects include:

Islamic Akhlaq (Manners), Tawheed, Aqeedah, Fiqh (Essentials and Practices), Qur’an reading / recitation and Hifz (memorization), Islamic History, and basic Arabic.

Islamic studies are also integrated with other learning areas including English, Mathematics, Science, Humanities and Social Sciences, Health, Physical Education, The Arts and Technologies.

Everything we teach in the classroom can be linked to Islam.

Primary Students enrolled at Al-Hidayah Islamic School essentially do not require extra lessons in religion at an after school or weekend 'Madrasah' - the School provides quality Islamic education which sufficiently covers the requirements for their age group during the normal school day.
