This year (2007), Al-Hidayah students participated in the International Science and Mathematics Competitions and Assessments for Schools, an initiative of the Educational Testing Centre of the University of New South Wales.
The Science Assessment included tasks which assessed students' skills in observing and measuring, reading and interpreting information, predicting, drawing conclusions, understanding experimental design and higher order skills, such as reasoning and problem solving.
The Mathematics Assessment included tasks which assessed students' skills in number, measurement, chance and data, space and geometry and algebra using novel situations relevant and interesting to students.
Alhamdulillah, In English we got 2 Distinctions and 4 Credits; in Maths we got 1 High Distinction, 3 Distinctions and 8 Credits. In spelling we got 2 High Distinctions, 3 Distinctions and 6 Credits; in Writing we got 2 Distinction and 4 Credits while in Science 1 student achieved Distinction and 9 got Credits. In total our school got 3 High Distinctions, 11 Distinctions, and 27 Credits. One of our brilliant students, Faisal Zia secured top position in Spelling in WA.
